NHL betting needs a big story — one not related to cheap shots or fighting-related deaths. How about a major acquisition?

I wrote last week about the Penguins’ struggles. Yep, they’re definitely on NHL betting probation. But a very exciting rumor I stumbled upon this week gives online betting players hope. Jaromir Jagr, currently enjoying life in the KHL, apparently told The Associated Press the following:

“I would just go there and play for them for the minimum salary,” Jagr said. “I owe Mario so much because he taught me how to play hockey. If he would want me to, I would come back for the minimum and try to help him. But he doesn’t need me. He has good players there.”

Could it be true? The Pens need Jagr more than ever, especially with Sid the Kid going down to a knee injury last night (no word yet on the severity). Anyone who likes to bet on hockey would welcome this storyline, I’m sure.
